Announcing New Dates in the Northeast this fall

8/30/2017

Hi everyone,

I'm very excited to announce a number of new dates that will take me throughout the Northeast, from Massachusetts to Baltimore.  Up first, on Friday, September 15th at 7pm, I have a concert appearance with my trio featuring the legendary Eliot Zigmund on drums (famous for his work with Bill Evans and Stan Getz), as well as the wonderful Dan Chmielinski on bass.  Eliot is a great friend and an amazing musician, and it is so special to be able to play my music with him.  This performance will take place at the Puffin Cultural Forum in Teaneck, NJ (about 15 minutes from New York City across the George Washington Bridge).

On Sunday, September 24th (sets at 8pm and 9:30pm), I will again be joining my good friend and fantastic singer Deborah Davis at Mezzrow in the West Village in New York City.  Last time Debo and I played at Mezzrow we sold out the first set, and this time we're trying to sell out both!  It's a great pleasure to be invited back to this intimate and beautiful club.  This time we will also be joined by the great bassist Jennifer Vincent.  Visit this page to make reservations for either set.

On Saturday, September 30th at 8pm, I'll be in Framingham, MA (near Boston) doing a solo piano appearance at the Amazing Things Art Center!  This is a wonderful venue and a very special event for me, as I haven't performed in the Boston area for quite some time.  I hope to see some friendly faces!  Then, on Friday, October 6th (sets at 8pm and 9:30pm), I'll be on the other side of the Northeast in Baltimore, MD, at the beautiful music performance space An Die Musik.  It's a real privilege to be there and to be joined by my mentor and the bassist from my album Curtis Lundy as well as the great Baltimore drummer Eric Kennedy as we celebrate my debut album Instead.
Finally, some of you in New York City will recall that I did a series of solo piano concerts at the Kitano on Tuesdays in April.  In October, I happy to announce that I will be returning again to do the solo piano series!  I will be there on Tuesday, October 3rd, 17th and 31st, and I may also be there on one more date, so stay tuned for my post next month when I will share more details about these concerts, as well as other exciting dates coming up in October.

For a full list of upcoming shows (including my weekly Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday residencies with Curtis Lundy, as well as an appearance with Iris Ornig on Sunday, September 17th), visit my schedule. Thanks as always for your support, and I hope to see you at one of my upcoming shows!

    ben Rosenblum

Award-winning New York City jazz pianist and accordionist Ben Rosenblum has been described as “mature beyond his years,” (Sea of Tranquility), an “impressive talent” (All About Jazz), who “caresses [the music] with the reverence it merits” (Downbeat Magazine). Since the release of his debut trio album, Instead (4 stars, Downbeat), Rosenblum has toured extensively with his trio and sextet throughout the United States, including multiple trips to the Northeast, Midwest, South and West Coast, and internationally  in Canada, Europe and Japan. He was a featured soloist at Carnegie Hall's Stern-Perelman Auditorium (with Reona Ito's New York Harmonic Band) and has appeared at prestigious venues throughout the world, including at the Appel Room at Lincoln Center, Kuumbwa Jazz Center, Ravinia, Himawari-No-Sato Concert Hall in Yokohama, Bird's Eye in  Basel and the Library of Congress. Rosenblum's second trio album in 2018, River City, was called “richly romantic” and “well-realized” by JAZZIZ Magazine, which featured the title track as part of their Best of Fall 2018 CD. Most recently, Rosenblum released his third album, Kites and Strings, which is the first to feature him on both piano and accordion alongside his new sextet, the Nebula Project. In 2020, the Nebula Project was voted runner-up for Best New Artist in JazzTimes' Readers' Poll. Rosenblum has been privileged to share the stage with many highly acclaimed jazz musicians, including extensive work with Curtis Lundy, Winard Harper, Deborah Davis and Chris Washburne, as well as appearances with Bobby Watson, Sean Jones, TS Monk, Warren Wolf, Eliot Zigmund, and many others. Rosenblum's musical interests also extend beyond jazz to include work in numerous world music scenes, including musical styles from Brazil, Peru, Croatia, Bulgaria, India, Ireland, Jewish traditions and more.
